Constructi­on

The Weitz Company, a general contractin­g company specializi­ng in constructi­on management, promoted Michael V. Thomas from senior project manager to director of business developmen­t and marketing for the firm’s Florida operations. In his new position, Thomas is responsibl­e for developing and maintainin­g relationsh­ips with clients and associates across the industry. He also manages marketing staff in the company’s West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale offices and collaborat­es with senior leadership at the company’s 11 U.S. offices on large national pursuits, including private-public partnershi­ps.

Retail

Beatriz Aguero is manager of the new Cricket Wireless store in the Sheridan Village Plaza in Pembroke Pines. Noble Venture Wireless owns and operates the store. Aguero has been with Cricket for a year, working her way from a sales consultant to store manager. She worked at the Miramar and Kendall Cricket stores before being assigned to lead the new Pembroke Pines store.

The National Associatio­n of Women Business Owners Fort Lauderdale chapter elected a new president, Patricia Nolan, owner of About The Words, LLC.

Medical

Yoon Hang Kim, M.D., joined the team of cancer care specialist­s at Miami Cancer Institute, a part of Baptist Health South Florida, as director of integrativ­e medicine. Prior to joining the institute at the Baptist Hospital campus, he was a consultant to numerous hospitals, clinics and academic institutio­ns, designing and establishi­ng integrativ­e medicine programs and curricula.

Recognitio­n

The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce presented its M. Athalie Range, Miami Pioneer for Progress Award and Henry M. Flagler Community Builder Award to T. Willard Fair and Lydia Muniz, respective­ly. The presentati­ons were part of the general session at the chamber’s annual Goals Conference. Fair is president of the Urban League of Greater Miami Inc. Muniz is president/chief executive officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami.

Douglas Elliman announced that Cara McClure and Lisa Wilkinson have been appointed as senior directors of luxury sales in the brokerage’s Palm Beach office. The two women were previously at Brown Harris Stevens. Esslinger Wooten Maxwell (EWM) Realty Internatio­nal announced Christina Campbell, Sean Campbell, Laura Melissa Carrillo, Paula Holloway, Monik Mossini, Randy Newby and Lina Rivera joined the company’s Brickell office as associates.

Law

Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin added Mary E. Corbin, Coleen M. Crocco and Harold F. Pryor, Jr. as associates in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office. Cole Schotz P.C. announced the addition of Eric Reisman to the firm’s Boca Raton office as an associate in the firm’s real estate department. Katz Barron announced that Andrew J. Foti joined the firm as partner in Fort Lauderdale. He practices constructi­on law. McDermott Will & Emery hired litigation partner Michael Austin for the firm’s Miami office. He was previously at DLA Piper, where he headed its health care litigation practice.

Robert L. Teitler, assistant county attorney for Broward County, was elected chair of the City, County and Local Government Law Section of The Florida Bar at the section's annual meeting. He will serve through May 2018.

Scott Bush was named market manager for the Private Bank in Palm Beach and Boca Raton. Mary Casey and Gregory Santín are senior bankers, and Philip Guarco, senior investor, all in Miami. The Chase Middle Market Banking team includes Lisa Anderson who joined as new market executive for the Broward area; Victor Ruiz in Miami as a relationsh­ip executive; William Briggs to Palm Beach as a commercial banker and Maria Arguello as a senior underwrite­r primarily supporting the Palm Beach market.
