Road work to close lanes in 2 counties
Several road construction projects begin this weekend that will close lanes anywhere from a week to two years.
West Boca: Continuing ramp construction will close the northbound Florida’s Turnpike Exit 75 to Glades Road overnights, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Sunday to Friday morning.
Northbound turnpike drivers can detour at Exit 69 to Sample Road east in Pompano Beach and take Powerline Road north to Glades Road.
The $8.3 million project is scheduled for completion next summer.
Coral Springs: The bridges over the C-1 Canal on West Atlantic Boulevard, east of University Drive, will close at least one lane in each direction, scheduled between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., from Monday
through Friday, Aug. 4, for required maintenance.
The work will include concrete demolition and barrier wall installation, upgrades to the guardrails and bridge joints, repaving, striping, and painting the bridges.
Sidewalks will be open for pedestrians.
Wilton Manors: The Andrews Avenue bridge over the South Fork of the Middle River between Northeast 17th and 19th courts will close lanes overnights, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., from Sunday to Thursday for repaving work.
From Thursday through Aug. 18 one lane in each direction will be closed as needed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the rest of the work on bridge joints, demolishing concrete barrier walls, replacing guardrails, striping and traffic maintenance.
Sidewalks will be open with detours posted.
Hollywood: Construction begins Monday along Hollywood Boulevard between City Hall Circle and Dixie Highway as part of the $7.6 million Complete Streets project expected to run through the summer of 2019.
Among the work planned, closing and shifting lanes on Hollywood Boulevard, detours at the intersections of 22nd and 24th avenues, replacing the water main, repaving the road, widening sidewalks, and adding bicycle lanes and decorative street lighting.
At least one lane in each direction will remain open throughout the project.
Construction schedules for each of these projects may change depending on poor weather or other unforeseen delays.
