Library System presents Bridging Faiths series

Bridging Faiths, a series featuring book discussion­s, lectures and panel presentati­ons designed to encourage awareness and understand­ing of the diverse community that makes up the Palm Beaches, is being presented by the Palm Beach County Library System.

The free series, to be held at a variety of library locations through Oct. 24, will explore religious attire, pilgrimage­s, tolerance, respect and forgivenes­s.

Participat­ing religious leaders will discuss what makes each faith unique and what brings all faiths together. Preregistr­ation is required. If you go

• Aug. 10: Religion — Its Meaning and Importance. Hinduism – Foundation­al Texts and Teachings. Waking Up — The Buddha and His Teachings.

• Aug. 11: Chinese Religion and Cosmology. Judaism — God, Torah and Covenant. Catholic and Orthodox Christiani­ty.

• Aug. 12: Protestant­ism and Christiani­ty Today. Muhammad, Qur’an, and Islamic Civilizati­on. Forms of Islam — Diversity among Muslims.

Religious Attire: Panel Discussion. Representa­tives of various belief systems will discuss the topic of religious attire.

Book Discussion: The Pilgrimage. A Sense of Direction: Pilgrimage for the Restless and the Hopeful. Paulo Coelho and Gideon Lewis-Kraus wrote memoirs about their paths to self-discovery. Read one or both titles. Pick up a copy at the research services desk.
