For Hurricanes legends and hopefuls, it’s back to paradise.

After introducing what he calls his Paradise Camp last summer, to revitalize the Hurricanes’ recruiting image, University of Miami football coach Mark Richt this weekend will host the second annual installment. The invitation-only skills camp, held Friday and Saturday, will bring together former UM stars and high school players — many of whom are among the nation’s top prospects.

Among the featured guest coaches at this year’s camp: former running back Willis McGahee, former tight end Jeremy Shockey and current NFL free agent Devin Hester, a Suncoast alum who played receiver for UM.

Of the 19 Class of 2018 commits UM has collected so far — a cohort ranked No. 1 in the country by Rivals and Scout — 15 are set to attend the camp, according to various multiple reports. Seven hail from Broward and Palm Beach counties. A pair of four-star St. Thomas Aquinas players were invited — cornerback Al Blades Jr. and linebacker Anthony Solomon. Also expected to attend are Palm Beach Gardens safety Gurvan Hall, Palm Beach Central’s Akeem Dent, defensive tackle Nesta Silvera of American Heritage, Benjamin CB Kaiir Elam and Atlantic sophomore receiver Aydin Henningham.

Blades, a rising senior, announced his UM commitment on Father’s Day as a tribute to his late father, ’Canes great Al Blades, who died in March 2003.

Silvera committed to the ’Canes in February. Hall, who earlier this month transferred to Gardens from Palm Beach Lakes, committed in late March.

Other former Hurricanes announced as speakers at Paradise Camp include Michael Irvin, Jon Vilma, Antrel Rolle, DJ Williams, Jon Beason and Bryant McKinnie.

More recruiting notes

Another four-star St. Thomas prospect, receiver Elijah Moore, will pass on Paradise and instead visit Ole Miss this weekend. Moore is down to a final three involving the Hurricanes, Rebels and Ohio State. He is planning on committing within the next few weeks, according to Raiders coach Roger Harriott.

Aquinas quarterback Curt Casteel will be attending University of Florida’s Friday Night Lights camp, joined by American Heritage-Delray WR John Dunmore, a Gators commit, and Wellington four-star junior Mark-Anthony Richards, brother of UM wideout Ahmmon Richards.

Deerfield Beach will send six underclassmen to the event: sophomores Louis Rolle, Bryce Gowdy, Bobby Washington and Karaun St. Louis and freshmen Robert Floyd and Fred Eaford.
