Impending closures of two South Florida business locations will result in layoffs of 166, according to notices filed with the state Department of Economic Opportunity.

Ninety-three people will lose their jobs when a Kmart store at 20505 S. Dixie Highway in Miami closes on Sept. 24 or the 14 days after that date, one of the notices said.

The closure — one of four in Florida — was announced earlier this month by parent company Sears Holdings. The others are in Hudson, Lakeland and Tampa. The retailer, which is struggling to remain afloat, announced closures of 43 Sears and Kmart stores in the U.S.

Meanwhile, 73 positions will be eliminated when The Adolescent Treatment Center of the Palm Beaches — also known as The Teen Treatment Center — closes on Sept. 14, that company announced.

A letter to the state agency said the facility is closing “due to financial hardship.” No other details were offered, and executives of the center’s parent company, Treatment Center of the Palm Beaches, did not immediately respond to requests for more information.

Positions eliminated by the Kmart closure will include 27 checkout service associates, 14 hard goods merchandisers, 14 soft goods merchandisers, nine restaurant associates, five service desk associates, three exit monitors,
