Armed robber terrorizes gas station clerk

- Linda Trischitta

With a gun pointed in his face, a Chevron gas station clerk cowers as a masked robber grabs a cash register drawer in a pre-dawn holdup in Dania Beach.

After stealing the money from the station at 2080 Griffin Road, near Anglers Avenue, the robber also takes a pack of cigarettes, video released Friday by the Broward Sheriff ’s Office shows.

The clerk was not injured during the robbery that happened about 5 a.m. July 23, the agency said.

A spokeswoman would not disclose how much money was stolen.

The gunman’s underwear spilled out of the top of his black long shorts; he also wore a black long-sleeved top and black and white sneakers.

He’s about 5 feet 10 and weighs 150 pounds, the Sheriff ’s Office said.

The suspect fled and got into the front passenger seat of a white Buick Rendezvous SUV.

Its left rear taillight was not working as the Buick headed east toward Interstate 95.

The SUV has a sunroof, rack and gold trim.

The Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information to call Detective Armando Enrique at 954-321-4200.

Anonymous tips will be accepted by Broward County Crime Stoppers, which pays up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Contact 954-493-8477 or browardcrimestoppers.org.
