Knights wrapping up preseason camp

- Matt Murschel

Preseason camp winds down this week as UCF begins the process of preparing for its opener against FIU.

The Knights still have another practice or two before they’ll start work on game-planning for Panthers.

“These two days — today and tomorrow — are bonus days for us to continue to get work done, to get some situations that the guys may or may not have seen,”

said after practice Monday. “We’ll really start game prep later on this week but today and tomorrow are kind of bonus days for us.”

Frost said the depth chart is “about where it’s going to be” at almost every position for the first game, but there are still some spots that need a final decision in the coming days.

College coaches have to be prepared for just about any opponent — even one that’s celestial.

“We had to make sure we let our players know not to look up and blind themselves,” Frost said when asked about Monday’s solar eclipse. “It’s an exciting deal for us but we’ve got to be smart about it, too.”

With the first game of the season just around the corner, the coach isn’t taking any chances with his players’ safety.

“I’ve seen some strange injuries on injury reports, but hopefully we’re not one of the dumb teams that has some kind of vision problems tomorrow,” he said.
