McConaughey's new movie to film in Miami-Dade
Miami might be hearing, “All right, all right, all right” often in the next few months.
Preproduction for the movie “The Beach Bum,” which stars Matthew McConaughey, starts Sept. 2 in Miami.
About 60 crew members for the Harmony Korine-directed and -written film will start arriving next week in Miami, according to Miami.com
The site reports that the shoot will wrap up in mid-December.
The movie follows “a rebellious stoner named Moondog” who “lives life by his own rules,’’ according to IMDB.com.
Moviegoers may remember Korine’s 2012 movie “Spring Breakers,” which was shot in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota and starred James Franco, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens. Korine wrote and directed that film.
McConaughey, an Academy Award winner who recently starred in the Stephen King movie “The Dark Tower,” finished filming another movie in the 305 earlier this summer.
That film, “White Rick Boy,” follows the true story of Richard Wershe Jr., a teenager who worked as an undercover informant for the FBI during the 1980s and became a drug dealer who was sentenced to life in prison, according to IMBD.com. McConaughey plays the teen’s dad.
The movie, which also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh, will be released in 2018.
While he was in Miami in June, McConaughey celebrated his fifth anniversary with wife Camila Alves, a Brazilian blogger and model, according to Miami.com.
