Week 2 of the high school football season is in the books. Here’s a look at some of the top performers from this past weekend across Broward and Palm Beach counties: KYLE WALTERS (PLANTATION) This is not a typo: The junior back scored eight touchdowns in the past week. He had four in Friday night’s victory over Blanche Ely, and then four on Monday night in a game against West Broward that was postponed from Week 1. In the Colonels’ 33-0 victory over Ely, Walters rushed for 111 yards in the first half. ANDREW CHATFIELD (AMERICAN HERITAGE) Senior defensive end was a beast on the pass rush and in run defense, leading Patriots defense to a 31-0 shutout of Liberty (Nev.). Recovered a fumble and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown. VINCENT DAVIS (CARDINAL GIBBONS) The junior had three carries for 77 yards and two touchdowns and also caught 27-yard score in the team’s 44-0 win over American Heritage-Delray. JAYSON MOSCHELLA (CARDINAL NEWMAN) The senior quarterbac­k dominated on the ground, rushing for 216 yards and four touchdowns on 34 carries in the Warriors’ 32-17 win over Jupiter DANIEL PARKER (NORTH BROWARD PREP) The junior running back went for 115 yards and two touchdowns in the ground in the 31-28 win over Benjamin. NICK VATTIATO (UNIVERSITY SCHOOL) Filling in for starter George Bubrick, the backup QB threw for five touchdowns in the 35-20 win over Archbishop McCarthy. TYLER JONES (AMERICAN HERITAGE) Running back Jordan Johnson was already out and Miles Jones left in the first quarter, so the junior stepped in for 142 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown. JORDAN BATTLE (ST. THOMAS AQUINAS) Junior DB had the highlight-reel 35-yard pick-six early that set the tone for the Raiders in the 40-0 win over Piper. ANTHONY IPPOLITO (OLYMPIC HEIGHTS) The senior wideout helped the Lions blank Spanish River with seven catches for 105 and one touchdown in the Lions 20-0 win. KESHAUN CLARKE (WESTERN) Senior back rushed for 114 yards and a pair of scores in the Wildcats’ 20-16 victory over Dillard. THAD FRANKLIN (CHAMINADE-MADONNA) While well-known stars Shaun Shivers and Xavier Williams impacted the 14-13 victory over Miramar by playing defense, the freshman QB came in and scored two touchdowns. DOMINICK WATT (MIRAMAR) Senior WR caught two early touchdowns against a tough Chaminade defense, but it ultimately came in defeat, 14-13. RICKY MALCOLM (CYPRESS BAY) Wideout caught a touchdown and had an 89-yard punt return for a TD as the Lightning took down Coral Springs, 29-6, to start 2-0. JUSTIN WAKE (KING’S ACADEMY) Incredibly efficient, the quarterbac­k finished the night 14-of-18 for 160 yards and three touchdowns, plus he added a rushing score in Lions’ 48-7 win over Westminste­r Academy. JAMES MEEKS (OXBRIDGE ACADEMY) The junior running back carried the ball 11 times for 138 yards and one touchdown in the team’s 69-0 rout of Flanagan KEIDRON SMITH (OXBRIDGE ACADEMY) The talented defensive back had a 26-yard intercepti­on return touchdown and caught a 38-yard TD grab on offense. COREY POLK (SEMINOLE RIDGE) The sophomore running back scored the game-winning 2-yard touchdown run with eight seconds left to give the Hawks a 20-19 win over Memphis University School. VOLLEYBALL AMANDA SILVESTRI (ST. THOMAS AQUINAS) Had 25 service points and eight aces in Thursday’s victory over Plantation. MADDIE FOWLER (PINE CREST) Posted 11 kills, 10 service points and three aces in a straight-set victory over Westminste­r Academy. JADA BIVINS (PALM BEACH GARDENS) Had 10 service points, four aces, four kills and 14 assists in the Gators’ straight-set win over Wellington. MALLORY BARASH (WEST BOCA) Dished 30 assists and added one ace in the team’s five-set victory over Spanish River. ISABELA KUNIGK (SPANISH RIVER) The Sharks standout had 28 assists, 14 service points and seven digs in the team’s three-set win over Lake Worth.
