Francois has successful surgery

- Safid Deen

TALLAHASSEE — Florida State QB

had successful surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his left knee on Tuesday morning.

“He’s doing well. Surgery was a success, and he’s just recovering right now with his mom,” said Francois’ first youth football coach with the Orlando Outlaws youth program, on Tuesday afternoon. “Everything went well.”

FSU coach said Monday that Francois, who has been declared out for the season, is facing a seven to eight month recovery window that could optimistically see him return as soon as spring practice.

Francois, a former Orlando Olympia High standout, suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter in FSU’s 24-7 loss to Alabama last Saturday in Atlanta.

Originally, all parties involved feared Francois may have injured his ACL or MCL before Francois received his diagnosis Sunday night.

“It wasn’t as bad as they originally thought,” White said. “He’ll still be out for the season, and should have a full recovery.”

White said Francois naturally took his injury to heart, hating the fact he will have to miss this season.

“He’s not feeling it,” White said of Francois missing the season. “Hopefully, he’s better now. But he was really down.”
