Richards practices, could play

CORAL GABLES — The Hurricanes could have their top receiver back this week at Arkansas State.

Sophomore did not play in Miami's opener Saturday against Bethune-Cookman while nursing a nagging hamstring injury. Tuesday morning when Miami returned to practice, he was dressed in full pads and participated during the stretch portion of practice open for reporters to watch. He also participated during Miami's ball security portion of practice and was with the rest of the receivers during individual drills.

That was the extent of his work on Tuesday, according to Hurricanes coach

“Ahmmon is much closer to playing. I wouldn’t say he’s a shoo-in. He flexed with the team, he got individual with the wide receiver group and then we shut him down at that point, not because of any setback, but because we’re little by little, trying to get him in there … I know he’s feeling a lot better,” Richt said.

As South Florida continues monitoring Hurricane Irma, the Hurricanes — who are set to travel to Arkansas State this weekend — are doing the same.

Miami athletic director said Tuesday the Hurricanes had not altered their travel plans, but that could change.

Miami and Alabama announced they will meet again in 2021 in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta. A date and kickoff time have not been determined yet.
