Toney questionable for Aggie game
GAINESVILLE – UF first-year freshman
increasing workload is taking a toll. Toney sustained shin and shoulder injuries against LSU and is questionable for Saturday’s visit from Texas A&M.
“Speaks to his toughness, he got banged up in the first quarter a couple different spots and finished the game,” coach said Monday.
Toney ran for 52 yards on six carries out of the wildcat package against LSU. He has averaged 9.8 yards on 23 touches from the line of scrimmage. UF also could be without leading receiver
(ankle) for the second straight game. Three other starters also are doubtful — safety
(shoulder), safety and guard (concussion).
“We’ll see kind of where we move forward with that as the week kind of progresses,” McElwain said. “This is nothing new. This is part of playing in this conference, this is part of being in the SEC, it’s part of playing football.”
The University Athletic Association is seeking an architect and design team for a new 5,500-seat baseball stadium for the 2020 season.
The Gators originally planned to renovate McKethan Stadium for $30 million as part of a $100 million facilities improvement program. Instead, the new stadium will carry a price tag of close to $46 million. Construction would begin in August of 2018.
