Gators say they love new uniforms
GAINESVILLE — The Florida Gators will have a new, yet somewhat familiar look this weekend in the Swamp.
UF will shed its traditional orange and blue colors for the first time and don new gator-skin, swamp-green outfits when Texas A&M visits Gainesville Saturday night.
“We love them,” sophomore safety said of the uniforms. “We’re going to go out there and rock them.”
The jersey will showcase a scaled pattern, with royal blue sleeves. Orange numbers will be trimmed in royal blue, while player names appear in orange. The pants are solid swamp green with a Gator logo patch on the hip. Some fans criticized the design on social media. “I haven’t really seen the criticism,” sophomore receiver
said. “All the guys on the team think it’s pretty cool making history by wearing something different.”
Gardner said veterans went to UF coach a couple of years ago eager to try out a new look.
“We were just asking like a little bit more swag, add something to it,” Gardner said. “... Coach Mac is one of the best coaches to me . ... He came through, like he always do.” Players now will look to deliver a flashy performance. “We’re going to go out, have fun — play good, look good, feel good,” Gardner said.
