Boil water order issued in areas

- — Doug Phillips

If you live or work in a small section of coastal Fort Lauderdale, city officials are urging that you boil water before using it.

The city on Thursday issued a precautionary boil water notice for a portion of the Seabreeze Boulevard area after a water main break.

The break to a 6-inch line at 1308 Seabreeze Boulevard has been repaired and water service has been restored. But as a precaution, and in consultation with health department officials, the city has issued a precautionary boil water notice for properties on Seabreeze Boulevard:

From Harbor Beach Parkway to Holiday Drive;

From East Lake Drive north of Harbor Beach Parkway.

Information sheets were being delivered to the affected properties, city officials said.

People in the affected area are advised that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute. Alternately, bottled water may be used.

For more information, residents can call the city’s 24-hour Neighbor Call Center at 954-828-8000.
