NO. 8 UM AT UNC, NOON
Where: Kenan Memorial Stadium, Chapel Hill, N.C. TV: ESPN2 Weather: 66 degrees, no rain chance Online: SunSentinel.com/um; @ChristyChirinos on Twitter.
Quick slant: The Hurricanes enter the Coastal Division matchup with an 11-game win streak dating to last season. However, they’re looking to snap a two-game skid to the Tar Heels and haven’t won in Chapel Hill since 2013. North Carolina owns a 10-9 series lead, including a 5-2 mark in games played at UNC.
About Miami (6-0, 4-0 ACC): After three consecutive thrillers, the Hurricanes — heavy favorites against the Tar Heels — are hoping for a game that doesn’t require fourthquarter heroics. QB Malik Rosier is coming off a careerhigh 344 yard performance.
About North Carolina (1-7, 0-5 ACC): The Tar Heels are mired in one of their worst seasons in recent memory and have lost 16 players to season-ending injuries. They wil also be without leading rusher Michael Carter, who has rushed for 403 yards and seven TDs. North Carolina’s lone win was 53-23 over Old Dominion.
What to watch:
UM’s power. The Hurricanes have improved in their second year under Mark Richt, but have yet to “impose their will” on an opponent, the coach has said.
Staying focused. With North Carolina’s lackluster record, UM will have to guard against overlooking the Tar Heels.
Healthy ’Canes. After a rash of injuries, the Hurricanes have gotten several of their starters back.
