Richt expects another big crowd

- Christy Cabrera Chirinos

CORAL GABLES — All season, Miami Hurricanes coach Mark Richt has implored fans to come out and support UM as it worked its way through its schedule.

And while attendance has improved for the Hurricanes the past two seasons, during Miami’s 28-10 win over Virginia Tech the environment at Hard Rock Stadium was something that hasn’t been felt very often at Hurricanes games during recent seasons.

With a top-10 matchup against old rival Notre Dame now looming, Richt made it a point Sunday to thank Miami fans for their support against the Hokies — and to ask that Hard Rock be as electric when the Irish visit.

“There was no doubt our crowd was on it really from the beginning to the very end and I’m really, really proud of everybody that came and supported us,” Richt said. “It was tremendous. … That was a big one and everybody responded well. It was a great night. I think they’ll show up [for Notre Dame]. I think they had a good time and I know they want to have another good time. I think when we roll into the parking lot at Hard Rock on Saturday night, it’s going to be as jam-packed or even more than it was this past weekend. I don’t think there’s any doubt we’re going to have a great fan base at the game and hopefully, there won’t be any empty seats.”

According to resale ticket website StubHub.com Sunday, there were just 2,398 tickets left for sale, the lowest priced at $150. Next game: No. 10 Miami vs. No. 3 Notre Dame, Saturday, 8 p.m., ABC
