Zay Flowers had a tough week, finding out his older brother, Martin Flowers, was shot and killed in Sanford, N.C. on Wednesday. Playing with his brother in mind, the junior receiver caught a pair of touchdowns that ignited a Sharks 44-21 victory over Glades Central in a Region 4-4A semifinal Friday night. ZAY FLOWERS | UNIVERSITY SCHOOL He finished with 88 yards on three catches and two touchdowns, adding a sack defensivel­y as U-School marches on to face Miami Pace in the regional final. JORDAN SMITH | WESTERN The big senior receiver caught two touchdowns from quarterbac­k Harrison Story, including one with 3:19 remaining, as the Wildcats scored the upset victory over Deerfield Beach, 20-17, in a Region 3-8A quarterfin­al. SHELLEY SINGLETARY | ATLANTIC The senior running back rushed for over 100 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 29-14 win over Plantation in the Class 8A regional quarterfin­als. JOHN SMITH | PARK VISTA The senior QB threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in the Cobras’ shocking 28-20 upset victory over top-seeded Miramar in the 8A regional quarterfin­als. SHAUN SHIVERS | CHAMINADE-MADONNA Postseason­s belong to Shaun Shivers. The Auburn running back commit went for 189 yards and scored twice in the Lions’ 38-0 Region 4-3A semifinal win over American Heritage-Delray. ALEXIS ALVAREZ | WEST BROWARD The senior defensive lineman scored the game-winning touchdown on a fumble recovery in the end zone and also set up the Bobcats’ previous touchdown with an earlier fumble recovery in the 31-26 Region 4-7A quarterfin­al win over Forest Hill for West Broward’s first ever playoff win. GIO RICHARDSON | OXBRIDGE ACADEMY The junior signal caller went 9-for-17 for 113 yards and one touchdown and carried the ball 15 times for a 140 yards and one score in the ThunderWol­ves’ 42-7 win over King’s Academy in the 3A regional semifinals. TAMICHAEL BOLDIN | PAHOKEE Filling in for starting RB Jatarie Washington, the sophomore rushed for nearly 200 yards and a TD in the Blue Devils’ 41-17 win over Williston in the 1A regional semifinals. NICK ATKINS | PALM BEACH CENTRAL The Broncos’ QB threw for four TDs and ran for another in the team’s 32-0 shutout win over Seminole Ridge in the 8A regional quarterfin­als. GRIFFIN CERRA | CARDINAL GIBBONS The Chiefs kicker booted five field goals with a long of 48 as RB Vincent Davis went for 151 yards and a touchdown and quarterbac­k Nik Scalzo threw for 168 and two scores in the 43-30 Region 4-5A quarterfin­al win at Orlando Jones. JORDAN TRAVIS | BENJAMIN The Louisville QB commit threw for four TDs in the Bucs’ 43-6 win over Everglades Prep in the 3A regionals. OTHER SPORTS KATHLEEN GOLDING | COOPER CITY The junior swimmer won the girls 200 IM (1:59.72) for the third consecutiv­e year and was second in the 100-free at the Class 4A state swimming championsh­ips. ANDRES LARES | PINES CHARTER The senior swimmer was third at the Class 3A state swimming championsh­ips in both the 500-free (4:31.18) and 200-free (1:41.17) as the Jaguars finished fourth. TSION YARED | PINE CREST The sophomore cross-country runner’s 18:00 finish at the Class 2A state championsh­ips was 19 seconds better than second place to win her individual state title and lead the Panthers to defend their state team title. NICHOLAS RISCHAR | ST. THOMAS AQUINAS The Raiders senior posted a new personal record (15:53) as he placed fourth in the boys Class 4A cross-country state championsh­ips. St. Thomas’ two-year streak of state titles came to an end as the Raiders finished third. VALERIA PACHECO-CLAUDIO | CHAMINADE-MADONNA The senior golfer and TCU commit shot a 2-under-par 70 on the final day of the Class 1A state golf tournament to finish with a 139, good enough for third. SHARI STENGLEIN | PINE CREST The senior setter and Columbia commit had 37 assists and 16 digs in the Panthers Region 4-5A final victory over defending state champion Miami Westminste­r Christian before falling in state semifinals. PAULA CERAME | ST. THOMAS AQUINAS The senior libero had 15 kills, 10 digs and four aces in the Raiders’ Region 4-8A final win over Doral’s Reagan before dropping the state semifinal. MADDIE ANDERSON | PALM BEACH GARDENS The Florida State signee had 17 kills and 19 digs in the team’s state semifinal win over Southwest Miami to advance to the title game for the first time ever. ELLIE BLAIN | BENJAMIN The sophomore helped the Bucs advance to the girls volleyball state title game for the second straight season with 14 kills in the team’s state semifinal win over Riviera. KYLE DIMATTEO | PARK VISTA The senior swimmer captured two state titles this weekend, winning in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. ISAIAS DE LA PUENTE | FOREST HILL The Falcons’ runner finished third at the Class 4A race at this weekend’s cross country state championsh­ips.
