Milton a Camp award semifinalist
UCF quarterback to climb on the awards circuit.
The sophomore signal caller was named a semifinalist for the 2017 Walter Camp Player of the Year award Wednesday.
Milton leads the No. 15 UCF football team to its first 9-0 start, matching the program consecutive wins record with nine. Milton's offense leads the nation in scoring at 48.6 points per game.
He ranks in the top 10 in the nation in six categories. Milton is third in completion percentage (69.6), second in passing efficiency (184.6), ninth in passing yards per game (302.2) and eighth in total offense.
Milton is the only semifinalist from the American Athletic Conference and one of four underclassmen in contention for the award.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year is voted on by the 130 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. A list of five finalists will be released on Nov. 29.
The American Athletic Conference championship game will kick off at noon and will air on ABC. The game will be hosted by the top AAC division winner.
No. 21 Memphis can clinch the West Division title and a spot in the championship game with a win over SMU on Saturday.
If USF beats Tulsa tonight, the Bulls and No. 15 UCF will face off for the East Division title and a spot in the championship game on Black Friday.
