Reports: Woman loses gun, purse during street attack

The video is chilling. It shows a woman walking past the outdoor portion of a Miami Beach restaurant as a man confronts her on the sidewalk and begins to beat her in the face.

During the struggle, the woman, 24, attempts to fight the man off but then she falls to the ground as he grabs her purse and smacks her head a few more times before running away.

As the surveillance video ends, the woman is seen running across the street after her assailant.

Miami Beach police Thursday released the video of the attack in the hopes of turning up leads in the case.

The incident happened shortly before 1:45 a.m. Tuesday outside a restaurant at 1903 Collins Avenue.

According to police, there were two other men inside an SUV, possibly a silver, 2016 Nissan Rogue, when the attacker jumped in and it fled the scene.

Arriving officers found the woman crying and bleeding from the back of her head, WFOR-Ch. 4 reported. Among other items, her stolen purse contained a loaded Taurus handgun and a cellphone, the station reported.

“I got three staples in my head,” the unidentified woman told WSVN-Ch. 7.

The attack has left her shaken and more cautious.

“I’m not going to walk down South Beach the same. I’m going to be looking where I go,” she told the station.
