Office Depot CEO buys Delray mansion
Looks like H. Wayne Huizenga Jr. has found a buyer for his Delray Beach mansion — Office Depot’s CEO Gerry P. Smith.
The seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom estate fetched just over $6.7 million, according to a deed made public last week.
It was on the market for just 10 days, said listing agent Billy Nash, of The Keyes Company’s Nash Group. Hap Pomerantz, also of The Keyes Company, represented Smith.
The 11,000-square-foot home, located at 16191 Quiet Vista Circle, sits on 5 acres and was built in 2007, Nash said.
It features a pool that is lined on
both sides by giant palm trees.
The estate is the largest lakefront lot in Stone Creek Ranch, a prestigious community featuring 37 luxury estates.
Palm Beach property records show Huizenga Jr. and his wife, Fonda Huizanga, paid $1 million for the home in 2009.
Huizenga Jr. serves as president of Huizenga Holdings of Fort Lauderdale and as chief executive officer of Rybovich Superyacht Marina in West Palm Beach.
He is the eldest son of billionaire entrepreneur H. Wayne Huizenga, former owner of the Miami Dolphins, Florida Panthers and Florida Marlins.
Smith joined Office Depot in February and previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Lenovo Group, a $45 billion global technology company based in North Carolina.
He leads more than 2,000 employees at Office Depot’s headquarters in Boca Raton who in recent years have weathered a failed bid to merge with Staples, and a shrinking demand for office supplies.
Since joining Office Depot, Smith has been working to pivot the office-supply retailer into a broader-based business and technology services company.
