’Noles see vast potential in Kaindoh

- Safid Deen

TALLAHASSEE — Florida State football coach

sees the potential in defensive end Joshua Kaindoh but is trying to temper expectation for his true freshman.

Kaindoh, who was ranked as the nation’s No. 3 defensive end in last year’s recruiting cycle, earned ACC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week honors on Monday after his performance in FSU’s blowout victory of Delaware State last week.

“He can be a really good player in the future if he works at it, which he does,” Fisher said after Kaindoh had four sacks and six tackles in the 77-6 win.

“He’s a very intelligent young man, a very conscientious young man and has a chance, I think, to be a really good player.” Kaindoh, playing behind starters and

has accounted for 15 tackles, with 5.5 tackles for loss during his freshman season.

But his standout four-sack performance against Delaware State tied for most sacks in a game by any player in the country this season.

“He’ll work at it,” Fisher said of Kaindoh’s ability to build on his success. “He’s one of those kids that will maximize his ability. I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t.”

FSU offensive lineman said Monday that Kaindoh’s play has improved since getting better acclimated to the speed of college football.

“The kid is a freak. Look at him, he’s a specimen, honestly,” Eberle said. “He works hard, he’s a good dude and I think the sky’s the limit for him.”
