Milton, Bulls earn AAC honors

- Shannon Green

Rivalry week is already starting out strong for UCF and USF, with both schools claiming the offensive and defensive player-of-the-week honors.

UCF quarterback was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week and USF’s Auggie claimed Defensive Player of the Week honors. The Bulls also saw kicker named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

UCF coach said Friday’s matchup will feature two strong lineups.

“This would be the culmination of an unbelievable season and they’re a good team, we’re a good team. Our focus last week was to try to get to the point we’re at now. All we can do now is try to play the best we can in this game and try to let the chips fall where they may,” UCF coach Scott Frost said.

“But I’m glad this game is at home, I’m glad we came out of the last game healthy and we’re in good position to play well on Saturday.”

Tight end Jordan Akins will try to jump to the NFL after the season concludes. Akins, 25, is listed as a senior, but he has one year of eligibility left to compete.

“We’re gonna sit down after the year with every one of these guys. There’s three or four of them that I think will get a look at the next level that are underclassmen,” Frost said.

“We’ll sit down with them and help them make the best decision. We’re not gonna be selfish.”
