‘Jersey Shore’ cast returning to Miami
“Jersey Shore” is back in the 305.
The guys and girls from MTV’s reality series are filming a new season called “Family Vacation.”
The network and cast members announced the news last week, and some of the crew have already Tweeted that they’re in South Florida for the production.
One Tweet shows Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jennifer Lynn “Jenni” Farley (best known as “JWoww”) and Deena Nicole Cortese arriving in Miami on Thursday afternoon.
The new season also includes Paul DelVecchio, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.
Sorrentino, who pleaded guilty to tax evasion charge on Friday in Newark Federal Court, was court-approved to travel to South Florida to film the new series, according to NBC New York. Sorrentino faces up to 15 years in prison.
Missing from the MTV cast announcement was Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola.
The cast members have become household names since the original show launched in 2009 and broke out as a ratings hit for the music and entertainment network.
The series followed the drunken brawls, hook ups and friendships of the Italian-American cast as they shared a summer house in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
The show spawned the popular catchphrase “GTL” (gym, tan, laundry) which the male cast members often said in describing their daily routines.
For its second season, the show came to Miami Beach. South Florida fans may also remember cast members dancing and fist pumping in Miami Latin pop singer Enrique Iglesias’s music video for “I Like It.’’
MTV hasn’t announced a debut date for the new season, which is expected to air sometime this year.
