MIAMI — Nike held its annual Miami regional of The Opening, where many of the top South Florida football prospects in the upcoming recruiting classes gather looking to earn an invitation to the big event in Oregon in July, and many of them were high on the Miami Hurricanes.

Deerfield Beach four-star linebacker said he doesn’t have an official favorite, but one school did stand out from the others.

“If I was to say anything, it would be Miami,” said Eaford, who plans on attending UM’s Junior Day. “[The coaches] are saying ‘I’m their guy for 2019.’”

Eaford said he also plans on visiting Auburn and Oklahoma during the spring. In addition to those schools, the Bucks linebacker said Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Georgia and Alabama have all been pursuing. Eaford is hoping to make a commitment around August as he plans to be an early enrollee.

Going into his junior season, Cardinal Gibbons fourstar defensive end

said it was Miami and FSU at the top for him. He has since added several offers from other top programs that will be in consideration. Bogle lists Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State and Southern Cal as additions.

He, like Eaford, didn’t

Bogle Ge’mon Eaford Khris

claim a favorite at the moment, but after a one-onone drill against an offensive lineman where he bullrushed him, he threw up the U symbol in the opponent’s face.

“I love the U, so I always got to throw them up, especially after talking with [defensive coordinator Manny] Diaz and [defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski],” said Bogle, who added the conversations took place a few days ago. “Of course, every coach is going to recruit me hard, but they said they’re going to recruit me the hardest. My mom, she loves [UM].”

Among things he’ll consider in his decision is where he’ll fit in the defense – whether he’ll play end or outside linebacker. Bogle said he currently plans on remaining uncommitted until at least the final month before his Signing Day in February 2019.

Chaminade-Madonna defensive end

flipped his commitment from Florida to Miami last month and is hoping a couple of his teammates in the secondary to recently earn Hurricanes offers will follow him in siding with UM over an SEC school.

Williams said of cornerback currently

Williams Cameron Te’Cory Couch,

committed to Tennessee, “I’m trying to get him. It’s a 50-50 chance.” On safety

Williams said he feels there’s a “70-percent” chance of changing his mind.

Couch originally committed to the Volunteers’ former coaching staff but says communication has been lacking with the new one, so he labels himself a “soft commit.” He’s also considering LSU, Michigan and Oklahoma. He will visit the Wolverines on April 14. Lions wide receiver

called Florida State his “dream school,” although he says he

Smith, Keontra John Dunmore

currently has no top and is looking into a long list of suitors.

“I’m just going with the flow,” Dunmore said. “I’m really looking for relationships. Could I leave, go to the NFL, come back to this campus and it still feels like family?”

One of the top running backs in the area, St. Thomas Aquinas junior

says that Ohio State, Miami, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and Pittsburgh have all been aggressively recruiting him. The fourstar prospect said he plans on visiting Tennessee next week to see Knoxville.

After one of the Raiders’ playoff games last year, a couple of teammates videobombed an interview of his yelling, ‘He’s going to Georgia!” Carter laughed about that on Sunday, but said he’s still open right now.

“I think Georgia would be a great place for me,” Carter said. “I know they have top players for the 2018 class, but that doesn’t matter to me. I like to work hard and I like to compete.”

St. Thomas Aquinas fourstar linebacker

has Miami, Michigan and South Carolina as the top three schools he’s focusing on.

“They’re all pretty even right now,” Solomon said. “It’s just a matter of seeing how their roster looks, seeing who they’ve recruited in the class above me, seeing how I feel on the campus, what the educational program can offer me.”

A fast, cerebral outside

Carter Solomon Daniel Anthony

linebacker, Solomon said he has been on the campuses of UM, Michigan, Clemson and Florida State. He wants to commit before his senior season begins for the Raiders.

Another standout 2019 St. Thomas linebacker, Jahmar Brown, said Florida, South Carolina, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Stanford are standing out.

“All those schools fit the bill academically and fit the bill as far as defensive production and linebackers,” Brown said. “All those schools would be in one big bowl – I don’t have a one, two or three.”

Brown, as a junior, got acclimated to the Aquinas defense after transferring from Miami Pace. Describing himself as a finesse linebacker, he expects to make a big impact on the Raiders defense in his senior year.
