Victim’s dad berated on Twitter over Trump shirt
Andrew Pollack, father of a slain teenager, has become the target of a Twitter war steeped in politics.
Pollack was photographed wearing a “Trump 2020” T-shirt while trying to find his daughter, Meadow, before learning she had died in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
The photo wound up on Twitter, prompting responses that were politically charged and often crass.
“...It’s a little hard to feel sorry [for someone] who supported this administration and its racist and its NRA supporting policies. I feel sorry for his daughter, but not for him,” one said.
Said another: “Grieving or not, his vote caused his child’s death.”
Pollack, who said he supports Trump, discounts the tweets as “social justice warriors” on the internet.
Others tweeted support for Pollack.
“Andrew Pollack’s daughter Meadow was one of 17 people brutally murdered searching for her, and he was attacked for wearing a T-shirt supporting Trump” a Trump supporter commented. “This is how low liberals have sunk.”
Pollack said the conversation should be only about the 17 people who lost their lives in the shooting.
“The only real concern are the families [who are] devastated by this,” he said.
