Police look for suspect in home invasion
He lied his way into a Hollywood home, terrorized the two people living there, stole some of their possessions and is still on the loose. An updated picture released Thursday shows Robert Nolan Young, the man police say is responsible for the Feb. 11 home invasion that happened on the 4500 block of West Park Road.
The 68-year-old woman who lives in the home told police that a man knocked on her door and asked her to unlock her side gate because his cat had run into her backyard.
He then asked for a can of tuna in order to help lure the cat — and then followed her inside.
“The suspect then tied her up, along with a second elderly victim,” said Miranda Grossman, spokeswoman for the Hollywood Police Department.
According to a neighbor, the woman — who lives with her brother — was eventually able to break away and get to his home.
“She said, ‘Come, come, come with me! Somebody’s
breaking in my house, the guy has a knife,” John Guerrero told WFOR-Ch. 4.
According to police, the man later identified as Young, 49, stole some items and fled the scene on a bicycle.
In a 911 call released this week, the distraught man inside the home is heard calling for help.
“He rampaged everything. He stepped on my head. He beat me,” the man is heard saying in a report aired by WPLG-Ch. 10.
Both people were treated for the injuries at Memorial Regional Hospital and then released, police said.
Young was linked to the home invasion through physical evidence. Police say he is also wanted for grand theft in Miramar.
Investigators ask anyone with information about Young’s whereabouts to contact the Hollywood Police Department at 954-764-4357 or 954-967-4411 or by email at hollywoodtips@hollywoodfl.org.
Tips can also be made to Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-8477 or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Information that leads to an arrest can be eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.
