What you need to know to vote in March election

Some Broward and Palm Beach County voters will head to the polls March 13 to choose city and town leaders and decide questions about their future.

Municipali­ties holding elections include: Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hallandale Beach, Highland Beach, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Pembroke Pines. Voters in Coral Springs and Pompano Beach will decide on several referendum questions.

Hillsboro Beach and Lighthouse Point commission­ers were elected without opposition.

How do I vote mail?

Vote-by-mail ballots must be returned to the county elections office by 7 p.m. March 13. You can either mail back or hand-deliver your ballot to the county elections office. Request one here:

Where do I vote?

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 13, but anyone who is in line by 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot. You must vote at your precinct. Find your precinct:

Do I have to be registered?

You must be registered at least 29 days before the election to be able to vote. Check your voting status here: registrati­on.elections.myflorida.com/ Check Voter Status

What do I need at the polls?

Bring a government-issued photo ID such as a Florida driver’s license, state identifica­tion card, or most identifica­tion that includes both a photo and a current signature.

Look through your sample ballot as a reference, which you can take to the voting booth. Find a copy of your ballot at pbcelectio­ns.org in Palm Beach County or browardsoe.org/ Voter -Informatio­n/Sample -Ballot in Broward County.

Should I be concerned about voter fraud?

Fraud, including people maliciousl­y changing votes or voting multiple times, is extremely rare.

It is illegal under Florida law for anyone to campaign, or ask you who you plan to vote for, within 100 feet of your polling place.
