The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum announced that Robert
Tanen is director of the Museum’s Southeast region. Previously, Tanen was associate director and acting director of the Southeast region, which is headquartered in Boca Raton.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America, a national network of five comprehensive cancer centers headquartered in Boca Raton, announced additions to its executive team: Jennifer Barnett-Sarpalius, chief financial officer; Rob Braun, vice president of the CTCA National Clinical Network; Ken Chaplin, senior vice president of growth; and Michael McMillan, chief access officer.

The YMCA of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach announced Peter Thate as its new development director, from Boy Scouts of America, where he managed volunteer initiatives and programming for southern Palm Beach County. Additionally, Ryan Yetman has joined the organization as marketing and membership coordinator. Hispanic Unity of Florida announced its new board officers to the board of directors, as well as the full slate of board members for 2018. Charles Tatelbaum, a director with the Fort Lauderdale law firm of Tripp Scott, P.A., has been elected chair. Executive Committee will be the following elected officers: Lucia Rodriguez, Comcast, as chair-elect; Emma Pfister, Templeton & Co., as treasurer; and Christina Paradowski, Tripp Scott P.A, as secretary. Nancy Meyer, a former publisher of the Hartford Courant and the Orlando Sentinel, is rejoining the Sun Sentinel’s parent company, Tronc, as general manager for the southeast. Meyer returns to Florida after serving as president of the North Jersey Media Group, which is part of the USA Today Network. Additionally, Julie Anderson, who has been senior vice president of Content and Business Development for the Orlando Sentinel Media Group, is moving to South Florida to become editor-in-chief of the Sun Sentinel.

The Parkinson’s Foundation has elected Jena E. Abernathy to its board of directors. Abernathy leads Witt/Kieffer’s board services practice as managing partner and chair, senior partner of healthcare, and serves on the firm’s board of directors. Brian Kirkpatrick, Dr. Jessica Morlok-Prince and Dr. Ronald Romear have joined the Quantum Foundation board of trustees in West Palm Beach.

U.S. Small Business Administration appointed Ashley Daniel Bell as regional administrator for SBA Region IV, which covers Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Cindy Aoun, entrepreneur and founder of Koi Infinity, and Michael Brennan, a teacher at Nova Middle School, were honored recently at the NFTE (Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship) 2018 Global Showcase presented by Mastercard at Cipriani 25 Broadway in New York City. NFTE’s Global Showcase is an annual celebration that highlights and recognizes the organization’s extraordinary teachers and alumni from around the world with the Global Young Entrepreneur and Global Enterprising Educator Awards. Aoun, 20, and a student at Florida International University, was named as a Global Young Entrepreneur of 2018 for her startup, Koi Infinity, a company that makes handmade jewelry integrating symbolic crystals and charms. Her entrepreneurial activity began when she first took a NFTE class at John A. Ferguson High School and completed a NFTE Startup Summer program in 2016.

Palm Beach Opera has renewed Chief Conductor Maestro David Stern’s contract with the company for another three-year term, which will include conducting two mainstage productions for the 2018-2019 season. NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale announced that Andrew M. Heller, Stephen B. Pierce and Walter Padow, M.D., have been named members to its board of governors.

Neil Baxley has been promoted to director of slot operations at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. Baxley, a member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, joined Seminole Casino Coconut Creek as assistant director of slot operations in 2016. He is a graduate of Seminole Gaming’s Tribal Career Development Program, which recruits and crosstrains members of the Seminole Tribe of Florida to become future leaders of Seminole Gaming. Baxley previously was manager of Seminole Casino Big Cypress. He has also worked at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood and Seminole Classic Casino, Hollywood.
