3 teens arrested in luxury car thefts may be tied to 46 more

Three teenage boys are accused of trying to steal luxury cars in West Boca, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigat­ing whether they were involved in dozens of other auto thefts in the area.

The boys, ages 16 and 17, had entered the garage of a home in the Saturnia community on Saturday and attempted to steal a Jaguar SUV, said sheriff’s spokeswoma­n Teri Barbera.

They also tried to steal a Porsche Cayenne and a BMW 5 Series sedan from other houses in the community at the western border of Palm Beach County and south of Yamato Road, Barbera said.

After deputies locked down Saturnia, a police helicopter and K-9s chased the teens into the Everglades, where they were arrested on a canal bank, according to Barbera.

A Chrysler 300 sedan they were driving had been reported stolen, she said.

“These suspects are believed to be involved in 46 high-end auto thefts” in east Boca Raton, Wellington and West Delray, Barbera said.

She did not say how the teens, whose names and hometowns were not released, may be linked to those stolen cars.

She also did not release more informatio­n about the investigat­ion the agency is conducting with the Broward County Sheriff’s burglary apprehensi­on team.
