Egg hunts bring sweet fun to South Florida families

Egg hunts abound this weekend in South Florida, including the Spring Fling event Saturday at Hoffman’s Chocolate Factory in Greenacres. This South Florida Parenting event includes a daylong egg hunt, visits with the Easter Bunny and tours of the Chocolate Factory at 5190 Lake Worth Road.

If you’d rather hunt for chocolate in Miami-Dade or Broward counties, try events in Homestead, Cutler Ridge and Miami Beach or Hollywood, Tamarac and Sunrise.

There’s also the Big Bounce in Pinecrest and a Lacrae concert at the Miami-Dade Youth Fair, or a Harry Potter-themed final weekend at the Florida Renaissanc­e Festival in Deerfield Beach. Families can get a taste of nautical history with a public tour of the Tall Ship Oliver Hazard Perry in Riviera Beach, or check out the new Science Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Science Park grand opening at the Museum of Discovery and Science, Today, 10:30 a.m.

MODS is celebratin­g the opening of its new outdoor Science Park today with a day of demonstrat­ions and festivitie­s. Visit the Science Park to connect with science using the park’s ball range, water bottle rockets, giant levers, kaleidosco­pes, pulleys, solar tree, sound station, tennis ball launcher and wheel roll. The Big Bounce America, Friday through Sunday.

Ever wanted to be a kid again and take over the bounce house? You can do that at The Big Bounce America in Pinecrest this weekend. Bounce on a 10,000-square-foot inflatable, where a DJs spins music with confetti blasts, beach balls and party games. There is an obstacle course, slide and ball pit inside the Big Bounce along with plenty of space for jumping. There are plenty of other inflatable­s in the Big Bounce Village, such as a giant ball pit, three obstacle courses, a bounce pad and an inflatable water slide, at Evelyn Greer Park, 8200 SW 124th St., Pinecrest. South Florida Parenting Spring Fling and Breakfast with the Bunny, Saturday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Public tours aboard the Tall Ship Oliver Hazard Perry, Saturday and Sunday, Noon-5 p.m.

The 200-foot SSV

is this country’s newest Tall Ship and one of only 75 Class A Tall Ships in the world. The ship is on its way south to participat­e in Tall Ships festivals on the Gulf Coast.
