Nancy Teitelbaum, communicating the mission
Nancy Teitelbaum was recently named senior director, marketing and communications, for the Goodman Jewish Family Services of Broward County, in Plantation. Teitelbaum was drawn to this opportunity because of her previous job as director of marketing, for Unified Physician Management, in Boca Raton. Her niche is in healthcare marketing, and she has a passion for helping people, says Teitelbaum.
About: Goodman Jewish Family Services provides social service programs, counseling services, and emergency and ongoing assistance to individuals including Holocaust survivors, seniors in need, the emotionally, developmentally and physically disabled, survivors of domestic abuse and others.
Strategies
Understand the process: Sometimes marketing is analytical and numbers driven but it’s also very creative and subjective. My work allows me to use my imagination as well as my analytical thinking to formulate creative campaigns and materials.
Develop clarity: The key element I bring is my ability to define, differentiate and market a product, service, business or organization in an impactful way that inspires audiences to “feel” something and “act” upon it.
Make experiences count: Growing up, I discovered my passion for charity work, volunteering with the March of Dimes, candy-striping in our local hospital, and entertaining senior citizens in the local nursing home. Those early experiences led me to choose my college major in communications and helped shape
my future career path.
Grow professionally: I started my career as a client account manager at The Rothchild Group, a full service creative agency. Next, I was public relations coordinator at North Ridge Medical Center. Later, before joining Unified Physician Management as director of marketing in 2013, I was a consultant and marketing director for numerous hospitals and physician practices.
Engage: I have one child who graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas, in Parkland and another who attends the school now. The senseless violence that tore through our community and devastated families has affected me and my children directly. As we try to move forward in the aftermath, I feel grateful to work with compassionate people at GJFS, and it brings me comfort to know this organization is providing mental health counseling to those who so dearly need it.
