Stoneman Douglas will have a significant presence for the Miami Dolphins during the upcoming NFL Draft.

The family of Parkland shooting victim and Eagles assistant coach Aaron Feis, along with 18 graduating seniors on the Douglas football team, will announce the Dolphins’ draft picks during Rounds 4-7 on Saturday, April 28. The group will read the picks from the team’s training facility in Davie.

Feis, who also served as a security guard at Stoneman Douglas, was among 17 students and staffers killed in the Feb. 14 Parkland school shooting. The 37-year-old has been remembered for his heroism after racing into the building and shielding students from gunfire.

The NFL Draft begins Thursday, April 26 with the first round and continues the following day with Rounds 2 and 3. The draft concludes on Saturday, with coverage beginning at noon. All three rounds will be broadcast on national television.

In recent years, the NFL has created a trend of teams having guests announce their midround draft picks. Last year, the Dolphins had Moonlight actor Jaden Piner and former Dol-

phin and American Heritage coach Pat Surtain announce their picks.

Former Dolphins center and Pro Football Hall of Famer Dwight Stephenson will announce the team’s second-round pick, while safety Reshad Jones will read Miami’s third-round selection.

Since the February shooting, the Dolphins have continued to lend support to the Stoneman Douglas community. In February, the organization donated $100,000 to the community, and the coaching staff later donated an additional $17,500 to Feis’ family. In March, the team held a football clinic in Parkland for members of the Stoneman Douglas community.

A number of Dolphins players have also visited with survivors of the shooting, along with members of the Florida Panthers, Miami Heat and Miami Marlins.

A 1999 Stoneman Douglas alum, Feis played center for the Eagles from 1995-98, wearing number 73. He returned to his alma mater in 2002 as an assistant coach and also served as the team’s college recruiting coordinator.
