Earth Day is Sunday, and parties for the planet are planned throughout South Florida. Here are some of the celebratio­ns geared for families in the tri-county area this weekend:

Earthfest: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

Free event offers an opportunit­y to enjoy nature and get up close and personal with wildlife at the Sawgrass Nature Center. Baynanza 2018: 9 a.m.noon Saturday.

Join thousands of volunteers for the largest shoreline cleanup of its kind in South Florida. Baynanza is a fun and fulfilling event where volunteers can help make a difference in important ecological systems in South Florida. Volunteers should wear closedtoe shoes and bring gloves, water and snacks, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, a hat and sunglasses. Earth Day at Daggerwing Nature Center: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

This free family event features animal encounters, crafts, environmen­tal science demonstrat­ions, a butterfly plant sale, ladybug release and more. Daggerwing Nature Center is located in Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park at 11435 Park Access Road, off Cain Boulevard between Glades Road and Yamato Road, west of Boca Raton. pbcnature.com.

Beach Cleanup and Environmen­tal Art Festival: 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Marine Environmen­tal Education Center (MEEC) has partnered with Free Our Seas and Beyond for the cleanup and festival at MEEC, 4414 N. Surf Road in Hollywood. The beach cleanup and fair will use art to shed light on environmen­tal solutions. hollywoodf­l.org

Zoo Miami’s Party for the Planet: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Earth Day at the Yard: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

Hands-on educationa­l workshops and activities for the family, including a plantbased cooking class with Chef Pamela Wasabi and a make-your-own trail mix workshop by Whole Foods Market. Bring old clothing to rework into bracelets, learn about growing medicinal plants, shop earthfrien­dly products from local producers and artisans, and stop by the photo booth to get your Earth Day photo. Free Earth Day Workshops: 11 a.m. Saturday.

Stop by an Orchard Supply Hardware location for free workshops on how to go green for Earth Day. Starting at 11 a.m., guests can visit Orchard stores for tips on how to grow your own fruits, vegetables and more to create a more sustainabl­e garden. Get Your Green On: 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m Sunday.

Guests at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, 1101 Biscayne Blvd. in Miami, can bring recyclable­s, play with solar tech and connect with the museum’s team to find out how to make an impact on several restoratio­n projects. Some of the day’s activities include a Trail Mix Bar, Recyclable­s Relay Race and Solar-Powered Road Racers. Surfside’s Earth Day Celebratio­n: 10 a.m.-noon Sunday.

Celebrate while learning about conservati­on and ways to protect the planet. Festivitie­s will include a community project using recycled water bottles to create a large jellyfish, a rescue bird release in partnershi­p with Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, arts and crafts, a henna tattoo artist, light refreshmen­ts, a DJ and a T-shirt giveaway.
