CORAL GABLES — Under Mark Richt, the Miami Hurricanes have shown their willingness — time and again — to play talented freshmen all across the field, including on the offensive line.

Now, another young linemen is looking to try and add to that trend with four-star offensive tackle Michael Tarquin of Belleview committing to UM on Saturday not long after Miami wrapped up spring practice.

“I have been all over, North, South, East and West. I have met a lot of good people along this process. I want to [thank] all the coaches who have recruited me, and everyone else who has helped me with this game I love,” Tarquin posted on Twitter announcing his pledge. “With much consideration, I can now say that I am committed to the University of Miami Hurricanes!! #Surge19.”

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Tarquin, who is rated the No. 26 offensive tackle prospect in the nation by 247Sports.com, chose the Hurricanes after considering offers from the likes of Oklahoma, Ohio State, Arizona State, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Georgia, among others.

He is the 11th player to commit to Miami’s 2019 recruiting class and the third offensive lineman to join a group which already includes three-star offensive tackle Renato Brown of Palm Beach Central and threestar offensive guard Kinglsey Eguakun of Atlantic Coast High in Jacksonville.

Miami’s 2019 recruiting class is ranked seventh in the nation and third in the ACC by 247Sports.

Ahead of the Hurricanes in the rankings are Oklahoma, Florida State, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas A&M and Clemson.
