‘Big Bang Theory’ wedding; ‘NCIS’ exit

In TV, May is a time of farewells, cliffhange­rs and life-changing events.

Season finales:

The networks present pivotal episodes in hopes of bringing viewers back next season. To conclude its 11th season Thursday on CBS, “The Big Bang Theory” stages the wedding of Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons). “The Bow Tie Asymmetry” episode will feature Amy’s parents and Sheldon’s family. The 30-minute installmen­t will be packed with guest stars, including Kathy Bates, Mark Hamill, Laurie Metcalf, Jerry O’Connell, Teller (of Penn &) and Wil Wheaton.

Also Thursday on CBS, “Young Sheldon” concludes its first season with two men (Richard Kind and Wallace Shawn) pursuing Meemaw (Annie Potts). “Mom” finishes its fifth season with two episodes. Christy (Anna Faris) “falls back into old habits,” CBS says.

ABC’s “Modern Family” wraps its ninth season May 16 with guest star Jane Krakowski and a disastrous visit to Hero-Con. “Grey’s Anatomy,” ABC’s longest-running drama, finishes its 14th season on May 17. It will be back for a 15th.

The “Roseanne” revival concludes its season May 22, when Roseanne’s knee troubles cause concern. “Empire” delivers its season finale May 23 on Fox.

Star exit:

Pauley Perrette departs “NCIS” on Tuesday after 15 seasons with the CBS drama. She had a wonderful zaniness as Abby Sciuto, who could be mortally wounded. Will the beloved character survive? Mark Harmon is the irreplacea­ble player, and he will be back for a 16th season.

Series finales:

“The Middle” ends a nine-year run on ABC with one hour May 22. The episode “A Heck of a Ride” features a family road trip to Denver, where Axl will begin a job.

“New Girl” concludes on Fox with one hour May 15. The guest stars include Dermot Mulroney, Rob Reiner and Jamie Lee Curtis. ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” delivers a two-part series finale May 11 and 18. Reality finales:

ABC’s “American Idol” offers its finalists May 20, then the winner is named May 21. ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars: Athletes” reveals its victor May 21. NBC’s “The Voice” has its finalists perform May 21, then names the winner May 22. “Survivor” wraps up its 36th season with three hours May 23.
