Braves RHP (2-2, 3.65 ERA, 1.351 WHIP) vs. Marlins LHP (2-3, 3.67 ERA, 1.165 WHIP): Smith has been one of the biggest and best surprises this season for the Marlins, owning a 3.67 ERA that is the second best among Miami’s starting pitchers. Smith has been outstanding during his recent stretch, riding a 14

scoreless streak. Over his last three starts, Smith has allowed just two earned runs in 18 innings (0.96 ERA) while striking out 26 hitters, allowing just seven hits and walking only two batters. Smith’s 93-mph fastball was remarkable over his last two starts, with 18 of his 27 swinging strikes coming on that pitch. … Unlike Smith, Foltynewicz is coming off the worst outing of an otherwise solid season. Against the Giants on Friday, Foltynewicz allowed six runs on nine hits in five innings. Justin Bour (8-for-14 with two home runs) has had the most success against Foltynewicz, while J.T. Realmuto (3-for-15 with three strikeouts) has struggled the most against the righthander.
