Tennis legend and South Florida native Chris Evert has listed her 12,296-square-foot estate west of Boca Raton for $4.999 million.

And it’s no surprise that it comes with a tennis court.

Evert has already vacated the home, located at 8563 Horseshoe Lane in unincorporated Palm Beach County. She purchased it in July 2003 for $2.8 million when she was married to Olympic skier Andy Mill, and she raised her three sons there.

“Moving was bittersweet,” Evert said. “What made it special for me is the love we shared in this home throughout the upbringing of my three children. The property has everything you need to keep children active and entertained while being fully secluded, with privacy.”

The gated estate, which was built in 1995, sits on 5.23 acres in a community called Horseshoe Acres that is equestrian-friendly, said Katia Reisler, a real estate agent with Douglas Elliman Real Estate in Boca Raton, who shares the listing with Rebecca Spooner, an agent with Siemens Group Realty.

Exterior features include a resort-style pool, outdoor kitchen, tennis court, putting green, barn and horse trail.

The main home and two guesthouses have a total of eight bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and one half bathroom. There’s also a gourmet kitchen, formal living and dining rooms, library, custom woodwork, gym, home theater, fireplace, wet bar and a wraparound veranda overlooking the back of the property.

“The backyard is big enough to play soccer or a game of football, so we added a soccer field,” Evert said.

Reisler said the home offers privacy and seclusion even though it’s centrally located. “It is literally a piece of paradise,” she said. “It’s a 5-acre oasis in the middle of Boca Raton.”

Evert, who grew up in Fort Lauderdale, was the top-ranked female tennis player in the world for seven years and holds 157 singles titles, including 18 Grand Slams. She retired from professional tennis at the 1989 U.S. Open and, in addition to other duties, now hosts the Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic, held each year to raise funds for the fight against drug abuse and child neglect in Florida.
