‘Stranger Things’ lights up S. Florida
Frost Museum to offer laser show honoring Netflix series.
The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is about to get a little strange in an ’80s way.
The Miami museum will have a “Stranger Things”-themed laser light show on Friday set to music from the popular Netflix science fiction series.
The show will take place in the 67-foot-high planetarium, which hosts “Laser Fridays” the first and third Friday of each month, with different line ups from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Set in the early to mid-1980s, “Stranger Things” follows a group of tween boys and a strange, powerful girl named Eleven in their small Indiana town where they contend with supernatural forces, mainly a creature called the Demogorgon from another dimension called the Upside Down.
The series, which released its second season last fall, is also known for its soundtrack from its retro synth-laden intro to the use of popular ’80s songs from The Clash, New Order and The Bangles.
So expect to be transported to what may look and feel like the show inside the 250-seat theater at 1101 Biscayne Blvd. The “Stranger Things” show is at 10 p.m. followed by an 11 p.m. show set to the music of “Queen” and a midnight show with music by Daft Punk.
Tickets cost $8 for kids ages 3 to 11 and $10 for adults. For more information, visit frostscience.org.
