Concerts, films at no cost abound

Grab a chair or blanket, pack a cooler and head out to these concert and movie series that will keep you entertaine­d around South Florida without breaking the bank.

Starlight Musicals, in Fort Lauderdale, presents a free concert from 7 to 10 p.m. every Friday through Aug. 10. It will be at Holiday Park, 1150 G. Harold Martin Drive.

Evening on the Avenue, in Lake Worth, offers free live music, food vendors and a wine and beer garden from 6 to 10 p.m. every Friday until Dec. 15. It will be at the Cultural Plaza downtown, 414 Lake Ave.

Summer in the City Series, in Boca Raton, offers free tribute concerts, classical music and game nights from 7 to 8 p.m. every Friday until Aug. 11. It will be at Mizner Park, 327 Plaza Real.

Music Under the Stars, in Pompano Beach, will feature a free rock or R&B concert from 7 to 9 p.m. July 13. It will be on the Pompano Beach

Great Lawn, Atlantic Boulevard and Pompano Beach Boulevard.

Dania After Dark, in Dania Beach, will have a free art, music and culture festival from 5 to 9 p.m. on the second Saturday of every month. It will take place at Southwest First Avenue.

New World Symphony, in Miami Beach, will project a free concert at 8:30 p.m. July 21. It will be shown at Soundscape Park, 400 17th St.

Sunday Jazz Brunch, in Fort Lauderdale, hosts a free outdoor jazz concert from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Sunday of every month. It is at Esplanade Park, 400 SW Second St.

Saturday Sessions, in Fort Lauderdale, features singers, poets and theatrical performers from 5 to 8 p.m. the first Saturday of the month through December. It is at the Megaphone, 808 NW 13th Terrace.

Old Town Untapped, in Pompano Beach, offers music, free local beer samples, food trucks and local artisans at this monthly celebratio­n from 6 to 9 p.m. the first Friday of every month through September. It is at the Pompano Beach CRA, 100 W Atlantic Blvd.

Secret Woods Jamming in the Park, in Dania Beach, offers free acoustic events from 1 to 4 p.m. the fourth Sunday of every month through September. Bring your own instrument to Secret Woods Nature Center, 2701 W. State Road 84.

Friday Night Sound Waves, in Fort Lauderdale, presents free entertainm­ent from 6 to 9 p.m. every Friday through November. It is on Fort Lauderdale beach at Las Olas Boulevard and A1A.

Movies in the Park, in Miami, will show a film at 8 p.m. on the fourth Friday of every month. “Black Panther” is scheduled for June 22, “Coco” for July 22, and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” for Aug. 24. The movies will be shown at the Barnacle Historic State Park, 3485 Main Highway.

Palm Springs North Library offers free movies for kids at 4 p.m. every Wednesday and for adults at 2 p.m. every Saturday. The library is at 17601 NW 78th Ave.

Funtastic Friday, in Hollywood, provides a DJ, face painting, games and more from 5 to 8 p.m. every Friday through September. It takes place at ArtsPark, 1 N. Young Circle.

ArtsPark, in Hollywood, shows family-friendly movies at 8 p.m. every Friday. ArtsPark Ampitheate­r is at 1 N. Young Circle.

Summer Nights, in Oakland Park, will show a movie and present live music and entertainm­ent from 6 to 10 p.m. the second Friday of every month through September. Music starts at 6 p.m.; the movie begins at 8:30 p.m. It will be at Jaco Pastorius Park, 4000 N Dixie Highway.

Movie Madness, in Oakland Park, will present films from 2 to 4 p.m. every Thursday from June 28 to Aug. 2. Japanese animated film “Spirited Away” is up first on June 28 at Ethel M. Gordon Park library, 1298 NE 37th St.
