Who is slaying suspect Dedrick Williams?
Dedrick Williams, 22, of Pompano Beach, has been arrested in the shooting death of rapper XXXTentacion. Here’s what we know about him. ■ Williams is a tattoo artist who calls himself Tattooman Chucky. On his Instagram page, he is pictured in a shirt labeled with the names “Tattooman Chucky” and “Zombiez Ink.” The state has no record of a business by that name. ■ Williams has ties to the rap scene in
Broward County. He posted a picture of a tattoo he says he inked on the abdomen of rapper Kodak Black, reading “Road Runner.” He also was photographed alongside Koly P, a well-known Browardbased rapper who has worked with Kodak Black and performed with XXXTentacion. ■ Williams has a history of legal trouble. In February 2014, he was arrested for grand theft auto in Fort Lauderdale. He admitted buying a stolen vehicle for $80, police said. He was on probation for that crime at the time of XXXTentacion’s death.
Williams was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and battery in a domestic violence case in May 2014, but the state attorney’s office declined to prosecute, court records show. In December 2016, he was arrested in Coconut Creek on suspicion of possessing a firearm, but he was not prosecuted that time either.
Last November, Williams was arrested on charges of cocaine possession and possessing a weapon while being a convicted felon. Online court records do not indicate the status of that case.
