ON THE MOUND Marlins RHP Pablo Lopez (1-0, 3.00 ERA, 1.167 WHIP) vs. Nationals RHP Jeremy Hellickson (2-1, 2.63 ERA, 1.021 WHIP): Lopez will make his second major league start after a sparkling debut Saturday against the Mets in which he threw six innings of two-run ball. Both New York runs came on solo homers off the 22-year-old Venezuelan. It will be the first road start of Lopez’s career. The right-hander has been one of the organizati­on’s best pitchers this season, dominating the minor leagues before earning a recall last week. In 12 total starts with Double-A Jacksonvil­le and Triple-A New Orleans, Lopez posted a 1.44 ERA and 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings. … Hellickson, the 31-year-old veteran, will make his second start since returning from a right hamstring strain that kept him out for four weeks. In his last start Saturday against the Phillies, Hellickson labored through 98 pitches in 4 2/3 innings while allowing three runs.
