With school less than a week away in South Florida, most camps are done for the summer, and time is running out to cross those adventures off your bucket list.

Here are five things to try in South Florida before the little ones head back to the classroom:

1. Simulated skydiving:

South Floridians have two options for safe, skydivinglike fun. The first, iFly in Davie, offers indoor flights, which means air conditioning and protection from summer thunderstorms while learning to defy gravity inside a giant wind tunnel. The second, the new SuperFlight at Jungle Island in Miami, offers a view of Biscayne Bay and gives families an excuse to visit the new NeoSplash water park inside Jungle Island (admission sold separately). Visit iflyworld.com or jungleisland.com.

2. The Da Vinci exhibit at the Frost Museum of Science:

Leonardo Da Vinci was a genius, and nowhere is it more apparent than inside the new exhibit at Miami’s Frost Science Museum. The Frost also has the Power of Poison exhibit through Sept. 3, as well as its central 500,000-gallon aquarium, stingray petting tank and more. frostscience.org

3. Water challenge:

Two water challenge courses are open in Dania Beach and West Palm Beach, both providing one-hour sessions of “American Ninja Warrior”-like training on floating obstacle courses with trampolines, tower climbs, slides, swings and more. The Aqua Park at Greg Norman’s Shark Wake Park in West Palm Beach is a Witbit park on Lake Okeeheelee that covers an acre of water. The Tigertail Aqua Challenge in Dania Beach is smaller, but families can spend a full day at Tigertail Lake Recreational Center lounging on the beach or renting kayaks, canoes or sailboats to explore the lake. Visit sharkwakepark.com or tigertaillake.com.

4. The Mai-Kai:

If you’ve never been to the Mai-Kai tiki bar and restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, you’re in for a treat. The restaurant is fun for all ages, but it also features a Polynesian dinner show ($15 for adults, free for kids 12 and under) with hula dancing, fire juggling and more. A special kids show is staged Sunday nights until midNovember with the MaiKai’s youngest performers dancing alongside the adults. maikai.com

5. Go-kart racing:

Start training your kids to drive on South Florida streets with the fun of go-kart racing on a safe, closed course. Height restrictions apply, so the smallest kids will have to cheer from the sidelines. Xtreme Action Park in Fort Lauderdale offers cadet racing for children at least 8 years old and 54 inches or taller. Kids only need to be 48 inches tall for junior karting at K1 Speed in Hollywood. Visit xtremeactionpark.com or k1speed.com.
