Beach County Jail until his sentencing. He’s been in custody since April 20, when the judge revoked his $450,000 bond for violating his house arrest conditions. He had attended his own birthday party, where alcohol was served, at The Breakers Palm Beach hotel last year.

Judge Johnson said she was surprised that Wright wouldn’t get more prison time under the plea deal; the original charges in the case, which included vehicular homicide, were punishable by a total of up to 70 years in prison. The minimum possible penalty, according to state sentencing guidelines, was about 10 and a half years in prison.

But the plea agreement, with the approval of the victim’s parents, was negotiated over several months by prosecutor Laura Laurie and defense attorneys Gregory Morse, Richard Lubin and Robert Resnick.

“He’s fully accepted responsibility and he’s extremely remorseful,” Lubin told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Parsons’ mom, Anna Morsaw, declined to comment Thursday. But Matthew K. Schwencke, Morsaw’s attorney for a pending wrongful death civil lawsuit against Wright, said, “Anna doesn’t want an apology.”

Instead, she wants to hear Wright account for his crimes.

“He has to tell the truth,” Schwencke said. “He tried to cover up what he did from the moment he struck and killed Jordan.”

Chase Nugent, attorney for the victim’s father, David Parsons, agreed the family just wants Wright to man up.

“Jordan was left to die alone in the street by Dennis,” Nugent said, adding that the plea deal avoids the ordeal of a trial and is “the best thing for everyone involved.”

Prosecutors say Wright drove a 2013 Range Rover Sport southbound on Federal Highway at 116 miles per hour and slammed into Parsons, who was in a Lindell Boulevard crosswalk and wearing earphones, at about 12:30 a.m.

“It was catastrophic,” said Chief Assistant State Attorney Craig Williams.

Wright continued driving and got to his home in the 400 block of East Palmetto Park Road about 10 minutes after the crash, records show.

Parsons, 25, died three days later, after surgeries including a leg amputation. He was a member of the Blackzilians team, part of the Bellator MMA sports league, and he trained at the Jaco Hybrid Training Center in Boca Raton.

Investigators said they found Wright thanks to an anonymous tip that connected them with one of Wright’s friends, who told investigators that in the hours before the crash he was with Wright at Buddha Sky Bar, 217 E. Atlantic Ave.

Prosecutors say Wright was drinking at the Delray Beach bar in the hours before the deadly crash, and he posted on Instagram about the crash not long afterward. Parsons’ mom is suing the bar as well.

Wright’s driver’s license will be permanently suspended, as part of his sentence.

Wright can apply to shorten his probation to five years, if he has had no violations.
