The offseason saga for star senior quarterback Gio Richardson has taken its turns but appears to have finally been settled.

Richardson is indeed enrolled at Dwyer and will play football for the Panthers for his senior season, according to athletic director Tom Pagley.

Earlier Friday, Pagley, in a phone call with the Sun Sentinel, said a “clerical error at the district level” resulted in Richardson being removed from the school. He noted that the only practice Richardson participated in at the time was on Aug. 2, in which the Sun Sentinel was on hand to see him participate.

Pagley said the issue was resolved with the school district on Friday afternoon.

The former Oxbridge Academy signal caller, who is committed to FAU, momentarily appeared to have a second transfer attempt fall through after Oxbridge shut down its football program this summer. In July, he announced a move to Palm Beach Central.

At the practice with Dwyer, Richardson told the Sentinel the original move to Central was blocked because “they said they had full capacity.”

Palm Beach County athletics manager Valerie Miyares did not return phone calls on the matter. In June, Miyares emailed all area athletic directors, mandating they alert her if an Oxbridge player attempts to enroll at their respective school.

As a junior for the ThunderWolves, Richardson threw for 1,593 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 495 yards and nine more scores in a campaign that earned him Sun Sentinel All-County first-team honors and got Oxbridge to the Class 3A state final, a loss to Chaminade-Madonna.
