Actress will discuss her new memoir at Miami Book Fair.

Oscar-winning actress Sally Field will discuss her forthcomin­g memoir, “In Pieces,” Oct. 22 at the Arsht Center in Miami, an appearance presented by the Miami Book Fair and Books and Books.

Tickets to “An Evening With Sally Field” cost $46 and include an autographe­d copy of her book. They can be purchased at ArshtCente­r.org, by calling 305-949-6722 and at the box office, 1300 Biscayne Blvd.

Set for publicatio­n Sept. 18, the book follows Field’s life and career, which began as the beloved young star of the TV shows “Gidget” and “The Flying Nun,” through Oscar-winning performanc­es in “Norma Rae” and “Places in the Heart,” as well as memorable appearance­s in such films as “Smokey and the Bandit,” “Steel Magnolias,” “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “Forrest Gump” and “Lincoln.”

Field has won Emmy Awards for the acclaimed miniseries “Sybil,” as a bipolar mother on “ER” and as the matriarch on the ABC series “Brothers & Sisters.”

In 2017, she was nominated for a Tony Award for her role as Amanda in Tennessee Williams’ “The Glass Menagerie.”

Field “has never extensivel­y discussed her private life,” and spent five years writing “In Pieces,” according to Grand Central Publishing, which described the book as “an inspiring and important account of life as a woman in the second half of the 20th century.”

In a statement, Field said the book is about “the little girl that I was, about the teenager who backed into becoming a celebrity, and about the craft that taught me to stand on my feet, a craft that helped me find my way out of a complicate­d childhood.”
