Injured starters back on field
Stills, Phillips, Gray resume practicing
DAVIE — Three Miami Dolphins starters sidelined by injuries have returned to practice as the team prepares for Saturday night’s third preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Receiver Kenny Stills (ankle), defensive tackle Jordan Phillips (shoulder) and tight end MarQueis Gray (concussion) participated in Tuesday’s practice.
Rookie tailback Kalen Ballage, who also spent last week in the concussion protocol, did not practice, which indicates that he hasn’t entered stage three of the NFL’s concussion protocol. Gray is likely on his third stage, but must be cleared by an independent examiner to play in a game.
Stills missed last week’s practices because of a left ankle sprain he suffered in the preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Phillips, who started 11 games last season, also missed a week of practices because of a shoulder injury he was nursing.
Gray, who has spent all training camp as the team’s in-line tight end, missed the final four practices of training camp because of a concussion he suffered during a full-padded practice last week.
DeVante Parker, the starting split end receiver, continues to be sidelined by a broken finger, but coach Adam Gase said he’s staying on top of his conditioning to ensure he’s ready for the regular season.
