Press & Grind Cafe gets juicy

A former owner of VooDoo BBQ & Grill and Twin Peaks has introduced a fast-casual cafe in Victoria Park.
“The area is reinventing itself, and we feel like we are reinventing what people should expect from a cafe,” says Joe Sloboda, who plans to franchise his concept. “We are a fresh-pressed juice bar and specialty coffeehouse. We make all our juices, coffee and food to order. Everything is made from scratch using fresh and organic ingredients. We offer specialty grade, organic, single-origin coffee and tea, along with a chef-inspired menu of sandwiches and salads. It’s healthier food for people in a hurry.”
Pastries and breads are delivered from Gran Forno and cookies and cupcakes from Sweeter Days Bake Shop, including vegan and gluten-free items ($3-$5). Four renditions of dressed toasts ($4.95-$9.25) include avocado chicken with pesto spread or the PB Power with peanut butter and bananas. Sandwiches ($8.95-$9.75) range from all-day breakfast croissant with organic eggs to a steak melt. Four acai bowls ($12-$12.75) include the Florida Dragon with dragon fruit, banana, mango, blueberries, granola, coconut and chia seeds.
The bright, industrial setting incorporates reclaimed wood, wraparound windows, black tile walls behind the counter, orbital orb chandelier, brick and high ceilings with complimentary Wi-Fi. A red-bedecked woman in a mural holds a cappuccino with long, black gloves. The sidewalk offers covered seating and water for pets.
Hours are from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
