Rays: LHP Blake Snell took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and allowed just one run on one hit while striking out nine and walking two in seven innings as the Rays beat the AL Centralleading Indians 3-1 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Snell earned his majorleague-leading 19th victory and set a team-record seventh straight start.

Astros: Alex Bregman drove in three runs and OF George Springer made a run-saving diving catch to end the eighth inning, helping the Astros sweep a series at Comerica Park for the first time with a 5-4 victory over the Tigers. It was the 10th win in the last 11 games for the AL West leaders.

Braves: Pinch-hitter Tyler Flowers drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth, and the Braves moved closer to clinching the NL East with a 2-1 road victory over the Giants. The Giants lost their 11th straight, the worst skid since the team moved to San Francisco and the longest for the franchise since 1951.

Cardinals: Ahead of a key four-game home series against the Dodgers, the Cardinals suffered a 4-3 loss to the Pirates in St. Louis. The Cardinals’ lead over the Dodgers for the second NL wild card narrowed to two games. Pirates LHP Felipe Vazquez struck out Matt Carpenter with two on to end the game for his 22nd straight save.

Yankees: Manager Aaron Boone said All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman is nearing the final stage of his rehab from left knee tendinitis and could return to the Yankees bullpen “sometime next week ... if everything goes well.” Chapman was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Aug. 22. Rest and platelet-rich plasma injections were the primary courses of treatment for Chapman. He has been throwing again the last two weeks and completed a side bullpen session at the Yankees complex in Tampa, Fla., on Wednesday. Boone anticipates a simulated game scenario after that, and Chapman could be back in the bullpen soon thereafter.
