Coconut Creek All-American CB Mullen commits to Indiana

Coconut Creek threestar cornerback Tiawan Mullen, a U.S. Army All-American, announced on Thursday afternoon he has committed to Indiana.

He chose the Hoosiers out of a top five released in May that also included Nebraska, Pittsburgh, TCU and Ole Miss.

“I would also like to thank all the schools that have recruited and gave me an opportunity to be a student-athlete at your university,” Mullen wrote on Twitter, also thanking God, his family and the coaching staff at Creek. “So with that being said (I’ll Be Committing To The University Of INDIANA).”

Mullen visited Bloomington, Ind., for the home victory over Virginia last Saturday. It was his official visit with the Hoosiers after previously visiting with them unofficially over the summer.

He also visited Pitt in the summer and went to Nebraska on Sept. 1. Mullen canceled a trip to check out Kansas State this upcoming weekend.

Contributing to the Cougars since his freshman season when older brother Trayvon Mullen, now a junior at Clemson, was a senior there, Tiawan Mullen has been a name on the recruiting radar for a while.

Mullen is the first All-American at Creek since Trayvon Mullen was part of a trio of Cougars to earn the honor, along with wide receiver Binjimen Victor (Ohio State) and cornerback Malek Young, who played at Miami until a neck injury cut his football career short.

The Army All-American Bowl is scheduled to air on NBC on Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. from the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Coconut Creek is off to a 3-0 start this season and hosts American Heritage in a key District 16-5A game on Friday.
