Reshad Jones day-to-day.
DAVIE — Dolphins safety Reshad Jones is day-to-day with a right shoulder injury, coach Adam Gase said after Wednesday’s practice.
Jones did not practice on Wednesday, but Gase hopes he is able to play when the Dolphins (2-0) host the Oakland Raiders (0-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Hard Rock Stadium.
“We’re taking it day-today right now,” Gase said of Jones, a two-time Pro Bowl selection who leads the team with two interceptions and is second with 10 tackles this season.
If there is a positive in Jones’ injury news, he injured his right shoulder and not the left shoulder that was surgically repaired to fix a torn rotator cuff in 2016.
Jones, Miami’s best defensive back, had his two interceptions to go along with seven tackles in the Dolphins’ season-opening win over the Tennessee Titans.
On Tuesday, the Dolphins promoted secondyear safety Maurice Smith from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
Also missing from Wednesday’s practice was receiver Danny Amendola, who Gase said would be off on Wednesdays during the season.
Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, who injured his knee against the Jets, was also a limited participant.
Long snapper John Denney, who is nursing a shoulder injury since Week 1, was a limited participant as well.
Among full participants Miami listed on its injury report: running back Kenyan Drake (abdomen), defensive end William Hayes (finger), wide receiver DeVante Parker (finger) and quarterback Ryan Tannehill (knee, ankle).
